Case study: Telkom

Background

The Telkom Knockout Cup is a yearly football competition in South Africa. 16 teams in the South African Premier Soccer League play each other in a tournament that lasts from late September to early December.

We were approached by the event organisers, in association with PA Sport, to design a template for a weekly email newsletter. The email would be sent out to visitors who have subscribed on the Telkom Knockout Cup website, and would contain exclusive PA Sport generated content such as news, stats, interviews and results.

Our Approach

Our design had to work with PA Sport’s email CMS and fit in with the established Telkom brand. As the newsletter was data driven, it was important that our design work didn’t distract from the content of the email. To make sure this wasn’t an issue we created a clean, unobtrusive design, which allowed information to remain the focus. This design was then simply and effectively applied to the content management system.

Results

The Telkom Knockout email helped to raise the profile of the tournament whilst the level of news and data offered gave fans a more immersive experience.
